A driver operating a motor vehicle along a public roadway shall:
(a) Not exceed posted speed limits.
(b) Adjust speed for conditions: Drivers shall reduce speed when approaching intersections, curves, pedestrians, bicyclists, animals, or other potential hazards.
(c) Minimum safe speed: Drivers shall not operate a vehicle so slowly as to impede the normal and reasonable flow of traffic, except when a lower speed is required for safety due to traffic, road, or weather conditions.
(d) Special speed zones: Drivers shall obey posted speeds in designated zones, including school zones, construction zones, and residential areas.
- Exceeding the speed limit, but not by more than 10 miles per hour constitutes a Level 1 Infraction.
- Exceeding the speed limit, by more than 10 miles per hour but not more than 20 miles per hour constitutes a Level 2 Infraction.
- Exceeding the speed limit, by more than 20 miles per hour but not more than 30 miles per hour constitutes a Level 3 Infraction.
- Exceeding the speed limit, by more than 30 miles per hour but not more than 40 miles per hour constitutes a Level 4 Infraction.
- Exceeding the speed limit, by more than 40 miles per hour is a Level 5 Infraction or Misdemeanor Reckless Driving.
