(a) Presumption of Innocence.

The court shall instruct the jury that the defendant is presumed innocent and that this presumption remains throughout the trial unless and until the prosecution proves guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

(b) Burdens of Proof.

Jurors shall be instructed on:

  1. the prosecution’s burden to prove each element of the charged offense beyond a reasonable doubt; and
  2. the defendant’s right to remain silent and not present evidence or testimony.

(c) Jury Responsibilities.

Jurors shall be advised to:

  1. evaluate all evidence impartially;
  2. follow the law as instructed by the court; and
  3. avoid any influence from media, public opinion, or personal biases.
