(6)8.1.2 Misuse of 911
A person is guilty of Misuse of 911 under this subsection if he or she:
(a) willfully initiates or causes to be initiated a call, message, or electronic transmission to an emergency communications system, including 911, knowing that no emergency exists; or
(b) knowingly provides false, misleading, or materially inaccurate information to an emergency communications system with intent to provoke a response, interfere with emergency services, or cause unnecessary deployment of emergency personnel or resources; or
(c) uses an emergency communications system for harassment, pranks, or non-emergency purposes after having been reasonably warned or instructed to refrain from such use.
(d) This subsection shall not apply to calls or communications made in good faith, including calls based on a reasonable belief that an emergency existed at the time, even if that belief is later determined to be mistaken.
Misuse of 911 Communications is a Misdemeanor.
