(7)3.2.1 Responsibility at a Traffic Light
A driver operating a motor vehicle approaching or entering an intersection controlled by a traffic light shall:
(a) Red light: Stop before entering the intersection and remain stopped until the signal turns green, unless making a permitted turn on red as allowed by law. Drivers must ensure the intersection is clear before proceeding.
(b) Yellow light: Prepare to stop if it is safe to do so. Drivers shall not enter the intersection after the light turns yellow unless stopping would create a hazard.
(c) Green light: Proceed through the intersection only when it is safe to do so, yielding to pedestrians and other vehicles lawfully in the intersection.
(d) Continuous caution: Even when the light indicates a right-of-way, drivers shall verify that the intersection is clear and that other road users are yielding appropriately.
- Violation of article (a) of this subsection constitute a Level 4 Infraction.
- Violation of articles (b), (c), or (d) of this subsection constitutes a Level 2 Infraction.
