Any driver operating a motor vehicle on a public roadway who encounters a traffic light shall:
(a) at a green traffic signal, proceed through the intersection only if the intersection is clear and it is safe to do so or;
(b) At a red traffic signal, come to a full and complete stop before any part of the intersection crosses:
- Any painted stop line or demarcation line indicating where vehicles must stop; or
- The entrance to the intersection; and
remain fully stopped until the traffic signal has changed to green.
Failure to comply with subsection (a) of this section is a Level 1 Infraction.
Failure to comply with subsection (b) of this section is a Level 3 Infraction.
