(7)11.6 Following Distance

Any driver operating a motor vehicle along a public roadway shall:

(a) Maintain such distance from the vehicle ahead as is reasonable and prudent, considering the speed of both vehicles, traffic, road and weather conditions.

(b) Leave sufficient space to enable a vehicle overtaking to enter and occupy the space without danger.

(c) When following a large vehicle, emergency vehicle, or vehicle towing a trailer, allow additional following distance due to increased stopping distances.

(d) When driving in a procession, convoy, or parade, maintain enough space to avoid being considered a hazard but remain close enough to avoid interfering with normal traffic.

Failure to comply with the following distance provisions of this section is a Level 2 Infraction.
