(1)1.4 Professional Standards

All lawful actors shall conduct themselves in a manner consistent with recognized professional standards, ethical norms, and the responsibilities established under this code. Professional conduct requires competence, diligence, integrity, impartiality, and respect for the rights and dignity of all persons.

A lawful actor shall not engage in conduct that undermines public trust, compromises the administration of justice, or violates the principles of good faith, accountability, or ethical obligation as set forth in this code.

(1)1.4.1 Standards of Conduct

(a) Lawful actors shall adhere to applicable professional codes, guidance, and best practices relevant to their office or function.

(b) Actors shall maintain competence through continuing education, training, and awareness of legal, ethical, and procedural developments.

(c) Professional interactions with colleagues, clients, defendants, and the public shall be conducted with respect, civility, and impartiality.

(d) Violations of professional standards may give rise to accountability measures under Chapter (1)4, including administrative review, civil penalties, or disbarment/removal where applicable.
