A driver shall not operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway while engaging in activities that significantly divert attention from the safe operation of the vehicle. Distracted driving requirements include:

(a) Drivers shall refrain from using handheld mobile devices, texting, or engaging in any activity that impairs focus while driving, except as permitted by law.

(b) Drivers shall avoid actions such as eating, adjusting controls, or interacting with passengers in a manner that compromises vehicle control or situational awareness.

(c) Drivers shall maintain full attention to the roadway and traffic conditions at all times, adjusting driving behavior as necessary to respond safely to hazards.

Violation of this subsection is a Level 3 Infraction.
